In modelling Plettenberg is a name of tradition. They offer an ideal motor when high efficiency is demanded and only a limited quantity of energy is available. Plettenberg give the market high-end motors of low weight combined with the highest possible performance and efficiency. The highest quality of raw materials and the greatest care in the manufacture are at the basis of there production.

With the advent of powerful controlling electronics the design o brushless motors was made possible. Through intense basic research Plettenberg gained the necessary knowledge to work future orientated in order to constantly improve their motors to a high level. New geometries are used to considerably improve the power to weight ratio and to reduce the amount of wear on moving parts to a minimum. Plettenberg construct their In-Runner motors using their 'Inside-Out' principle.

This means the rotor at the centre contains neodyme-magents and iron, not wire coils as before. The construction of a normal brushed motor therefore being turned around giving the possibility to use high performance materials and new technology. They have developed new highly efficient materials for the stator orientated towards extremely high levels of performance. With this newly shaped stator they have the unique possibility to build motors of 4 to 10 poles. The amount of iron in the stator is thus reduced and with it the weight. The motors are multi pole with the rotors being made of a weight saving tubular construction hence the motor gains more dynamics as opposed to solid magnate technology. This multipole technology results in much higher torque.

To get quiet vibration free running, all the rotors are precision balanced on a computer-aided machine. The stators are hand wound giving guaranteed high grade precision windings.
The gearboxes are equipped with planet type gears with ball and needle bearings giving a friction free run and long life. The gearboxes are 97% efficient; these low mechanical losses can be compensated for by the use of large propellers.
The gearboxes as well as the motors are fully tested under gruelling competition-conditions.
The result is low weight high torque motors for direct and geared applications.

The basic construction principal of an out runner is that the wire-wound coils inside are fixed as well as the metal casing. The can with the glued on Neodyme-magnets, rotates around the coils.

Only the highest-grade materials are used. The metal used for the casings is the same as for the well-proven Plettenberg HP 355 series of motors. The excellent quality and thin gauge help guarantee a high degree of performance and torque. Also in high rpm, for this construction untypical, the motor has high degrees of effeciency. The coils as usual are wound by hand to a high density. The magnets are high value neodym made in Germany. After attaching the magnets every casing is balanced on precision computer controlled machines. This guarantees a perfect rotation of the can. If the can is not able to do this and vibration sets in, due to outside influences, considerable problems will occur. To avoid this the can is supported by a third ball bearing.

The rotating can is supported on both sides and the third ball baring helps to minimise the air gap between the can and the coils. This makes available high degrees of efficiency and torque. The open rotating can provides excellent cooling, so the motors do not over heat if low throttle is used, and therefore are very efficient.

These motors are ideally suited for power models, fun fliers, scale models and helicopters.
